Otherside Brewing
Award Winning WA Beer
Western Australia - Est 2016
David Chitty, co-founder and director of Otherside Brewing Co., transformed a one-off festival beer into one of Western Australia’s most dynamic craft breweries. Launched in 2016, Otherside began as a “gypsy brew,” crafted specifically for music festivals like West Coast Roots and Southbound. Their debut Festival Session Ale was an instant hit, capturing the relaxed, creative vibe of live events—an ethos that continues to define the brand.
In late 2017, growing demand led the Otherside team to establish a permanent home for Otherside in Myaree, in Western Australia. He spearheaded the innovative “Own a Bit of a Brewery” campaign, inviting the public to become “Beer Tycoons” and helping to fund the brewery’s expansion. The result was a state-of-the-art, 20-hectolitre brewhouse that officially opened in April 2018, complete with a cellar door, community taproom, and a rotating line-up of food trucks.
Chitty’s vision extended beyond brewing. Under his leadership, Otherside launched Tapped by Otherside a creative grants program supporting local artists, musicians, and cultural projects. With every beer sold contributing to the fund, the program has become a hallmark of Otherside’s commitment to community enrichment and cultural impact.
From a single festival beer to a full-scale brewery producing over 300,000 litres annually, Otherside Brewing Co. is a testament to Chitty’s ability to blend business, creativity, and community delivering a brand that is as much about people and place as it is about great beer.
