David Chitty

Over the past 25 years, David has founded and grown businesses that have delivered major cultural, social, and economic outcomes. His projects and businesses across the entertainment & events, hospitality & tourism, and arts & cultural spaces has involved complex creative and strategic planning, along with negotiations spanning business, government, and the not-for-profit sector.

David is highly skilled in securing substantial funding and approvals across music, film, & community projects and activations that have engaged millions, generating long term cultural and economic impact. Most of David’s startups and projects still operate as viable businesses or as ongoing community projects with significant social and cultural outcomes. His success is driven by a rare mix of entrepreneurial, marketing , team building and operational expertise.

More recently, he co-founded Otherside Brewing Co, growing it into Western Australia’s third-largest brewery within three years, which expanded into venue ownership and management by launching Freo.Social, the state’s largest independent live music venue in 2018. Otherside currently has four venues operating under its masthead.

In 2021, he established BANG BANG & Co to consult his industry expertise to the entertainment & events, hospitality& tourism, and the arts, cultural & community spaces for corporate, government, and not-for-profit clients. working on special projects. Through this venture, he aims to continue to not only help deliver unique experiences and projects, but ones that deliver meaningful and ongoing sustainable social and economic outcomes for both urban and regional communities across Western Australia.

David has developed substantial working relationships across multiple industries and skill disciplines over 25 years that now form the collaborative team for Bang Bang Co to deliver the services offered as a specialist consultancy agency.

Whether it be creatvie industries relationships from copywriting, design, branding services, marketing personnel to artists themselves and their support teams David can draw on a wealth of talent to tailor to the scope and brief of the project. Across the hospitality and tourism spectrum of talent, or professional servcies such as planning and architectural services for approvals, Bang Bang Co can draw upon previous projects relationships for each and every sector of the industries and service ranges that are offered as a specialist agency service provider.

As the Director David works with his team as required by each project with tailored contracts as individual freelancers or business service providers. Whether it be over 100 people for full service end to end projects as was the case with the Jamba Nyinayi Festival as subcontracted service providers or performers, to specialised service providing with David only collaborating and contributing to a bigger project and project team, such as the modelling and business plan developed for Aventuur’s upcoming Perth Surf park (for the Events lawn, functions and Community Activations component of the overall offering), the flexibility and team is there to be drawn upon as required for each special project.
